Rishikesh was full of excitement this weekend as people from over 25 countries joined together for International Yoga Day at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. The whole event was about “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” sharing the message that we’re all part of one big family and good health matters to everyone.
There was a real mix of people—ambassadors, local leaders, and yoga lovers all taking part. Swami Chidanand Saraswati, who runs the ashram, explained how yoga is not just about exercise, but brings peace to both body and mind, helping us stay calm no matter what. Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati also talked about how yoga is a way of life, not just a fitness routine.
Elsewhere, some diplomats went to Gairsain and then met with government leaders in Haridwar to talk about tourism, culture, and new business. Many guests said they would love to invest in Uttarakhand and learn more about the beautiful state.
The group also got to join the famous Ganga aarti at Har ki Pauri—a spiritual ceremony with dancing flames and singing by the river—which really moved many of the visitors. Some talked about old connections their countries have had with India, and how they hope to work together more in the future, especially in tourism.
Uttarakhand’s top officials showed everyone what the state has to offer—like growing cities, natural beauty, and plenty of space for new ideas and business. It looks like a lot of the guests went home feeling inspired and excited to come back.
So, International Yoga Day in Rishikesh was more than just stretching and deep breathing. It was a day of friendship, exploring new things, and building bridges for the future.
