FAQ's
What is sound healing, and how does it work?
Sound healing uses vibration (from instruments like singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks etc.) to influence the body’s energetic system and nervous system, promoting relaxation, stress-release and balance. At Ananda Dhwani, you’ll feel how the resonances support your body-mind to move from tension into coherence.
Who can join the Sound Healing Teacher Training Course?
The TTC is open to beginners, yoga practitioners, therapists and anyone with an interest in sound as medicine. Whether you want to deepen your personal journey or become certified to teach, the course is structured to accommodate various backgrounds.
What certification will I receive?
On successful completion you receive certification accredited by CMA (UK), which gives you credibility to teach or incorporate sound healing professionally.
How long is the course, and what’s included?
The duration varies (often a 5-day immersive course as seen in recent retreats) and includes hands-on instrument practice, theory of vibrational medicine, manual/course materials, and post-course support.
Do I need prior experience in yoga or healing therapies?
No. We welcome total beginners and also those with prior experience. Your level of practice will be respected and supported.
What happens during a one-on-one sound therapy session?
You’ll lie or sit comfortably while sound instruments are played around or over you, guiding you into deep relaxation. The practitioner tailors the session to your needs (stress release, emotional clarity, sleep improvement etc.).
What is a group sound bath like?
Group sound baths are shared experiences where everyone receives the resonance in a comfortable setting—often lying down, eyes closed, as the sound waves wash over the group, creating a collective atmosphere of calm, release and renewal.
Where is the centre located, and how accessible is it
Our centre is at Upper Tapovan, Rishikesh – a peaceful part of town with easy access to the river, nature and yoga-spaces. The nearest airport is Jollygrant (Dehradun) and the Rishikesh railway station also connects.
What should I bring / prepare for my visit?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. Bring a yoga mat or ask in advance if it’s provided. For the TTC course, bring a notebook and be prepared for an immersive schedule. Arrive rested and open. For therapy sessions, arrive a few minutes early to settle.
Can I combine the sound healing sessions or course with other practices in Rishikesh (yoga, trekking, sightseeing)?
Absolutely. Many travellers combine our offerings with yoga classes, river-front walks, Ganga Aarti evenings and Himalayan day-treks. Rishikesh naturally lends itself to mixing healing, reflection and adventure.
